The Forge

The forge is situated in Moretonhampstead in the Dartmoor National Park and is open from Monday to Friday and by appointment on Saturday mornings, visitors are welcome but if you are making a specific journey please phone before hand to ensure that I am in. There has been a forge on this site for 150 years, and the attached cottage has also been at various times a pub and a sweet shop.

The forge predominantly serviced the local farming industry up until the 1960s with horses queuing to be shod in the New Cut on Saturdays. There are shops, cafes and local potteries in the town.
